Session Fees & Medicare Rebates

At Bayside Therapeutic Services, we are committed to providing high-quality, accessible mental health care in a way that is both transparent and supportive.

Standard Fees

Our fee for a 50-minute individual therapy session is $150.

As an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker, our services are eligible for Medicare rebates with a valid Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) from your GP, psychiatrist, or paediatrician. You may be eligible for up to 10 rebated sessions per calendar year.

How billing works:

After your session, you’ll receive an invoice for the full fee.

Payment is due within 5 business days of the session.

Once payment is received, your Medicare rebate of $85.20 is automatically processed via Zanda, and the rebate will be deposited into your nominated Medicare account.

This means your approximate out-of-pocket cost is $64.80 per standard session.

Concession Fees

We aim to make therapy more accessible for those with additional needs. If you hold a valid Pensioner Concession Card, Health Care Card, or Commonwealth Seniors Health Card, we offer a reduced fee of $125 per 50-minute session.

With a valid MHCP and your Medicare rebate of $85.20, your approximate out-of-pocket cost is $39.80.

As with standard sessions, the full fee is invoiced after your appointment and payable within 5 business days, with your rebate automatically processed once payment is made.

Please ensure you have your valid concession card ready for your first appointment.

Face-to-Face Appointments

While Bayside Therapeutic Services primarily offers Telehealth sessions, we understand that some clients value or require in-person support. A limited number of face-to-face appointments are available and are held at the Wynnum Community Centre (Meeting Room 2).

These sessions include a room hire fee of $36.35, which is added to your invoice. This allows us to offer in-person sessions when needed, while keeping service fees sustainable and accessible for our broader client base.

Example of face-to-face session fees:

Standard session: $150

Room hire: $36.35

Total invoice: $186.35

Medicare rebate (with MHCP): $85.20

Approximate out-of-pocket cost: $101.15

Please note: Face-to-face sessions cannot be booked online. If you’d like to request an in-person appointment, please contact Bayside Therapeutic Services directly, as these sessions depend on room availability.

Why These Fees?

The fees you see reflect not only the time spent in your session, but also the non-billable work that supports high-quality, ethical care. This includes session preparation, clinical notes, communication with other professionals (such as your GP), and the ongoing professional development required to maintain current and safe practice.

For every 50 minute session, there is often an additional 30 minutes of behind-the-scenes work involved — all included in your fee.

Running a private practice also comes with operating costs such as secure digital systems, insurance, administration, and room hire — all of which ensure you receive the highest standard of care in a safe and supported environment.
